Johnson City I am a 30ish self-employed male.
I selected –Looking for “Friendship only” but would also select “Female” if I could. I just don’t know if I’m at a point in my life where I want to strictly date and I don’t want to limit my opportunities in meeting a wide varieties of people.
-I joined this site in the hopes of finding companions who are intellectually stimulating and capable of challenging me in ways that expand who I am and what I can be.
To most, I am an interesting and deep conversationalist. Despite my intellectual passions, I think it would be nice to meet people with differing temperaments to help me get away from my usual self for a little while. My ego-ideal is a proactive borderline workaholic, but really I’m pretty layed back.
-Personal growth matters a lot to me. Subjects that I am keenly interested in (and that I pursue) are personal growth, psychology, evolutionary psychology, philosophy, anthropology, religion, the psychological-anthropological and evolutionary roots of religion, personality theory, and human potential. Basically all of the depth and breadth of who we are, were, and can be. Some other interests are acoustics, general evolutionary science, electronics, hi-fidelity sound reproduction.
-I am an ex-christian. I call myself that instead of atheist/agnostic because I believe ex- describes me better since I was a pretty serious christian most of my life but had to admit to myself that I could no longer hold on to that belief system. Being on the other side, I know how a much grander perspective on human nature that I could have ever had when I clung to unquestionable presuppositions of faith. People are amazingly complex but can be understood. The depths of who we are fascinate me and inspire me. I have little tolerance for bigotry, prejudice, or acts involving the dehumanization of others.
