Turning things around
Robert Musil, Doestoyevsky, Swiss watches, original art works of minor painters, Maurice Blanchot, no television, walking golfer, teacher, amateur philosopher, legal scholar, public servant, environmentalist, want to be vegetarian, crime scholar, alone and liking it some and not liking it some, traveled and not sure if more or less travel is in the future, Tiger Lillies, Cartier cologne, working with or an advocate for the thankless poor and unawares down trodden--though sometimes poor and sometimes downtrodden myself, aestheticist, an admirer of Kant who wished to turn the categorical imperative on its head, Weberian in approaches, critical theory, Faulkner, Moby d---, Kraftwerk, Edward Gorey, Sonartec hybrids, agnostic post-Protestant protestant, at odds with devoutly Catholic scholars, wish I lived in Switzerland or Denmark, or somewhere nice in Europe, or even Vermont or Oregon--have tried to get to all of above, not a really good putter, sometimes a bad back, like to walk, too scared to bicycle in Tampa, Robert Bresson, Antonioni, Bill Murray, Gregory Peck, same eyeglasses for 18 years--nice, Italian clothes but not ostentatious too much, a poor well educated man who appreciates beauty and the finer things, with an extremely wry sense of humor, thoughtful, reserved, quiet, good conversationalist if..., not drinking too much, not walking enough, not taking the bus enough, still admire Bobby Fischer as well as Fred Shuttlesworth and Rosa Parks, concerned about Mumia a little, and Julian Assange, too. Ideal job would have been law school professor, but I'm not, followed by federal public defender with staff, followed by police oversight commissioner--I am none of the above--came close in a number of ways. Favorite all time love is french, and this seemed to have ruined me for American women--they tend just not to seem secure or authentic enough. Prodigious writer if I want to be, patient, kind, good with children, not content, disenchanted, pipe smoker.
