looking for Jean-Luc Godard fans? I am a musician with a passion for books and cinema. Though I have a degree in classical music composition and have written in forms such as the string quartet, I am drawn to iconoclastic autodidacts in the "pop" music field such as Mercury Rev, Gorky's Zygotic Mynci, The Delgados, Suicide, The Band, The Velvet Underground, Amon Duul II, The Homosexuals, and Primal Scream. My favorite authors are Nick Tosches, Henry Miller, Guy Debord, and Louis-Ferdinand Celine. My favorite books are Where Dead Voices Gather, Tropic of Cancer, Society of The Spectacle, and Finnegans Wake. My favorite director is Jean-Luc Godard. Based on the work of his which I've seen, I am more interested in his ideas than in the ideas of any other artist in any medium. My favorite Godard film is Vivre sa vie. I am also quite fond of his more recent work such as Notre Musique, In Praise of Love, and Hail Mary. I believe his recent work is even better than his classic "nouvelle vague" films. Other directors which I have been studying recently include Alfred Hitchcock, Howard Hawks, Samuel Fuller, and Nicolas Ray.
