The Strong will always oppress the Weak !
We can't help ourselves. My parents oppressed me for my own good for as long as they could... I oppress my own kids, for a peaceful life , because I can.
How can the Weak escape, without becoming in turn Strong !?
Must we seek Equality !?
"To be equally Weak or equally Strong... that is The Question"

`nothing, no-one is equal, that you know.
the question is to know what and where you are in this inbalance.
evolution dictates that you have a tendency of maximize your stength.

`Maximization of strength applies to both the physical and mental aspects. Strength does not automaticaly imply an oppresion of the weak, actually the opposite is true. Balanced mentally and physically strong people will actually empower the weak.

`well said, rowrow. The key is to ask, "strong in what way?" I remember a tv program that compared i think 6 or 7 different types of intelligence, such as emotional perception, math skills, spacial skills, creativity (as with art), sound/musical perception, etc... Experts from different fields were all given tasks that were meant to test each person's ability in the 7 types of intelligence. Naturally the rocket scientists excelled at the math and science tests, but weren't as good at the literature, creativity, or emotional tests.
So, if we all excel at different things, which specialty is superior? Is it better to be sensitive or sensible? Forgiving or shrewd? I like the line from the Gilbert and Sullivan opera, "oh god of reason, god of love, say, which shall my heart obey?"
If anyone wants to hear it, my opinion is that each person uses their strengths to overcome life's challenges. Our strategies, and our philosophies, match our talents and our skill sets. The ultimate would be to do as Musashi suggests, to "gain an intuitive knowledge of all [ways of life]" and do "all things with no teacher" (Book of Five Rings).
As for oppression, people do not oppress others because they are superior (it's not a cause-and-effect relationship); they oppress others either because they are insecure (as with bullies) or because they seek to gain financial or other reward (as with slavery), or for political motivations (finding a scapegoat to dissociate one's party from problems). People with unethical mindsets like this oppress whomsoever lets them, whether they are "weaker" or not; with enough leverage, even a weak person can oppress a strong one.
To me, all are equal in value, but not everyone is similar in their talents. I wish that we could affirm the value of those whose talents differ from our own, even if we do not understand their points of view.

There is something reassuring in the fact that expressing one's self , and shining one's gifts in front of others, will feel as an honor to good men. Men who are insecure, who are jealous, who bring evil in them, will be jealous, assign you evil, retire in shame.
